Where did you come from and where are you going? From where do all actions arise and to where do they go? That’s a very special place. Such wonders! So beautiful are the expressions of life! Where do they come from? And where do they go into? A very special place. The sounds that come through you are so beautiful to hear. At the same time it is so wonderful to feel them move from the silent depth within you and then to enter these words. How great this life is, so sacred is our existence. We can rejoice. We can be happy. We can smile through our fears and we can cry through our laughter. We can do this. It is a special ecstasy. All this rises from a very special place and enters that very special place.
Our life is always continuing, always moving. We have a lot to rejoice about. How great this life is! How sacred our life is. Take the presence of a form. Where did it come from? Where will it return to? How does it appear? And how does it sit here? From that very special place, never ending, always becoming.
Yes, we can smile through our tears. We can laugh through our tears. Yes, you can do that. You can do it because of that very special place. Just the feeling of the sound, the vastness of it, how it spreads itself out far from your body, from your being, from this presence. The voice rises, it moves everywhere, enters so many bodies, your voice entering my voice, my voice entering your voice, entering. We are entering each other’s lives. It is such a wonderful thing to know. Isn’t it just wonderful? We can rejoice.
We don’t have to wait for that day when we can relax, have fun and be happy. What a waste of time to think we have to wait for some time to do such and such a thing in order to have a grand time. The moment at hand is ripe. It is ready. It is open, it is here. Keep smiling, keep smiling, don’t walk around with a forlorn appearance. Smile when you’re crying and feeling down; and know you’re in a very special place. It’s the same place from where the joy arises, the ecstasy arises, it’s the same place! So cry if you have to and then go wash your face. Look in the mirror at your refection and smile at yourself. Try it sometime. You’ll be amazed how this life is so wonderful.
We don’t have to kill. We don’t have to rape. We don’t have to steal. We don’t have to be obnoxious. Learn and set yourself free. Many have died in the pursuit of bringing peace in the world. Many great books have been written. There are many great teachers and yet clinging has not stopped, raping has not stopped, abuse in the family, one to another, has not stopped. Prejudice has not stopped. What will it take to bring peace in the world? What will it take to bring peace in your home, into your life? What will it take to set you free?
There are many diseases in the world. Right now the great disease is AIDS. And then there is breast cancer. I have a friend who is dying right now: so much suffering. What will it take to set one free? Fear is such a horrible thing. It attacks the nervous system first. Then when the nervous system cannot handle it anymore, the immune system begins to break down and then dissolution of the individual occurs.
When will the individual raise his/her voice and be rid of fear, worrying about what someone else is going to do, what someone else is going to say? Worrying about how one has to appear all the time, worrying about perfection? What is perfection? Some people worry about being normal. What is normal anyway? Have you ever seen a normal person? “Why can’t you just be normal like everybody else?” I’ve heard that said a lot of times. Can’t you just be natural? What’s that? What does that mean? These words are flying around in society. Can’t you just behave yourself? Why am I misbehaving myself? What’s wrong with me? I am doing what I’m doing. Everyone is picking on everyone and there is “confusion all around, expeditions all in vain”1. The best of remedies in the medical field are not putting an end to these dreaded diseases. What is needed is education—to know, to be rid of the ignorance. When ignorance is erased, then one is not going to worry about doing the right thing. One will not worry, period! One will just be content in doing, not the right thing or the wrong thing, but doing, living and being, upholding the sacredness of life which comes through knowledge, wisdom and understanding.
Many people are seeking the truth, seeking the sacredness of life. But it is such a burden for them to let go of past impressions which they learned through history—to do the right thing. It has been said many times, “Judge not so that you may not be judged.” Yet there is an overwhelming impression that drives us to continue past values. Traditional values of the past continue to suppress, not liberate, the seeker of the sacred life. Get free. Be happy. Om shanti.
