After months of planning, food tasting and remodeling, the evolution of the Sakti Sangam Store location into the first vegetarian eatery on Long Island, New York was completed and the grand opening of Santosha Vegetarian Dining Plus was held on Friday, April 8, 1977.
Santosha Vegetarian Dining Plus was a project of the members of Yoga Anand Ashram; envisioned, energized and spearheaded by Sal Familia. His powerful dedication to creating natural, nutritious and above all delicious menu selections delighted thousands of patrons. The restaurant became well known and received notable rave reviews. It offered a naturally elegant setting and often scheduled live musical performances to enhance the dining experience.
