The Yogi does not run away from any of the challenges that come up each and every day. All obstacles, all challenges, are met through Yogic perceptions. The Yogi never runs away from anything. All responsibilities, all actions, whatever may arise in your life everyday, meet them. Discriminate, use your mind. Use your courage and walk this path. The Yogi never hides, never runs. But the Yogi says to the mind, “Oh my mind, help me to discriminate in this situation.” The Yogi breathes in, holds the breath, steadies the nervous system and allows for knowledge to appear.
Don’t run from anything and don’t just use your cultural mind. Don’t look for “rights” and “wrongs.” Meet the challenges each day. Work with whatever situation you’re in. If things have to be changed, change them. Who can tell you where to go? Who can tell you what to do? The Yogi always sits silently within, and in that silence, because he/she is a seeker of the truth, he/she will be shown what to do.
Each of you have your own individual circumstances and therefore you will meet the challenge. Be brave to say “yes” and be brave to say “no.” Once a “yes” is said that is your command, and you must live up to that, and if you say “no,” that also is your command, and you must live up to that, also. The Yogi faces all the challenges, never runs away. There’s nowhere to run to. All that you need is already in you to meet the challenges everyday, one day at a time, one moment at a time, one situation at a time. Clean one plate at a time. Nothing more, nothing less, just one thing at a time. Meet the challenges everyday. They come up fast. Where do they come from? Do you know? . . . From the past—they’re always coming from the past. They’re jumping over your shoulders, all the time. They’re called samskaras. You have memories of the past and they keep jumping over your shoulders and you have to meet them everyday. It’s a challenge. Go for it! I do it everyday, every single day, every hour.
The greater your power, the greater your knowledge, the bigger the challenges. You’ve got to have them in life. They keep you moving. They keep you moving. They come in all disguises, in all guises. Don’t run from them. You may have money problems. You may have sickness. A loved one may be dying. Someone may steal something from you or let you down, or break a promise. All these are challenges. Meet them. One at a time, that’s all we can do in life—one thing at a time.
Silently the Yogi sits. Make sure you do your meditation. Make sure you sit at home and allow yourself that auspicious time where you will be by yourself. All great lives did that. All great lives meditated and you’re doing it too. You are on the same path with all the great sages. That’s wonderful. That’s wonderful. Be brave and be full of courage. Om shanti.
