Prthivi – Earth
Behold prthivi, and feel its weight
Through all of life it permeates
Oh Earth, your bounty fills me to the brim
Before my very eyes
All that I sense knows your presence within.
Layer upon layer of intricate fiber
Woven together with heavenly hands
Constantly swelling and rumbling
Erupting and crumbling
Only to rise again.
Drifting and shifting towards the golden light
from whence it came.
Arousing and housing the Lord’s imagination
Manifested here for man’s inspiration
Each creation has been perfectly conceived
Uniquely designed, here to be seen
Providing the place from which to encounter
The Spirit which binds all together.
Feed the life you hold
That carries you through ages.
Oh prthivi forever glorify the presence of the Lord!
Jal – Water
Jal is everywhere
It’s life itself
It’s you and me.
It flows and ebbs
Like man’s desires
It quenches our thirst
It deadens the fires.
Be it a drop or an ocean
It’s all the same
Like faith
One cannot live without it.
Agni – Fire
Fire lights the soul
Warms the heart
Filling the mind
With glowing embers
of the Supreme.
The flickering flame
Guarded by Love
Will never go out.
Vayu – Air
The unseen element
Which moves all creation.
An invisible thread of life;
Now guiding a gulls’ wings,
Building a sand dune.
Splashing the ocean’s foam.
Caressing my body as I run.
Coming and going, swirling,
Sighing and saying words of love vay-u.
The breath of life we cannot see
Yet it ties me to thee.
Akasa – Space
In around and through
between all space
and in every cell of you.
Is it akasa that exists in the void,
that place where one pauses
and can’t identify.
A vacuum, a rest, clear beyond our senses;
Where nothing is everything,
Only purity possesses.
Where all began and will return in time,
The circles center in which Reality abides.
