The many activities that were created for the education, transformation and fellowship of the students and members of Gurani Anjali’s ashram (Yoga Anand Ashram) are characterized in the documents that have been preserved in the following archive.

Presented below is a collection of Yoga Anand Ashram newsletters, journals, calendars, brochures and flyers from the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s. As the ashram grew the technology used for printed media continued to improve. This evolution is apparent in the production of the many documents included here in this archive; from manual typewriters, mimeograph and hand drawings to desktop publishing and an in-house printing and publishing department.

This archive has been preserved and presented here to help lend a feel for the dedicated involvement of the membership and to show the strong foundational tie to the ideal of cottage industries expounded by Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement. The membership of the Ashram did not just attend an occasional class, but were given the opportunity and encouraged to immerse themselves in all the karma yoga activities created for the sake of their education, Yogic training and evolution toward the ultimate freedom.

The archive presented here represents only a partial list of all that was produced and was able to be recovered and preserved. If anyone in the Ashram community has additional archival documents that they would like to submit it would be gratefully received.
