The Brahma Mantra: the mantra for creation, the mantra for grace, the mantra for peace, the mantra for guidance, the mantra for new life. Om shanti, shanti, shanti.
Om
parameshvaraya vidmahe;
para-tattvaya dhimahi
tan no brahma pracodayat.
Om shanti, shanti, shanti.May we come to know the Ultimate Reality
Let our minds stay on the supreme
May that consciousness within us direct us.
Om peace, peace, peace.
The Brahma Mantra is a very auspicious mantra. Of course all mantras are auspicious, when we, with our hearts and our minds make that connection. The mind must reach out to the heart and the heart must reach up to the mind. And when there is unity with one-pointed attention, then we are blessed.
You feel like you can do anything. You feel like you have so much power; and you do. And it never leaves. This is the nature of brahman to be constant, to be creative, to be absolute. We are in the image of brahman. So if we can acknowledge this fact and know that this is the case, then, joy will come back. But like brahman, we must not show our face, we must not have asmita (I-am-ness, ego). Then we can— we must share our life with everyone.
This is the Kali Yuga Age and this mantra is designed for this age. We had many ages through the cycles of life. For this age and this time in the world, the Brahma Mantra is very, very important. This is also called the Iron Age. This is an age where honor is being dishonored, all life is being taken for granted, and where there is chaos and much confusion all around. This mantra is recited particularly for this age.
In this Kali Yuga Age, there are many possibilities and there are many, many opportunities. There are all kinds of bodies and distractions. Thousands upon thousands of distractions coming through man; for man. Yet you who are powerful and beyond the body ought to see that you are part of this generation. And that there is a power within the structure of man which is calling man into a state of life which is other than the [sacred] power that is within you. Where there is hardness of heart and minds are confused. This is a very, very hard age according to the Sastras, but every moment of our life is very sacred and every moment of our life is the age of time.
Let us make this world a little better through our presence. We must know and understand and see that there is much turmoil. Let us shine in this world wherever we go and to whomever we speak. Through our presence may we bring peace and comfort to all that we come in contact with. Om shanti.
